It was an exciting and meaningful iLuvCebuInstameet experience last 22nd of April 2017 at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa. This edition was into marine conversation and education for the marine environment such as the effect of plastics in the sea and preserving natural habitat for sea creatures and marine life. It was a privileged that Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa has a huge sanctuary for marine resources and conservation, and they called it “MaCo’s Hub”. We able to learn and participate the marine conservation activities such as Fish House Making and Coral Planting.
Before the day of iLuvCebuInstameet, I met Doyzkie Buenaviaje of iLuvCebu and we discussed the logo of 4th edition. Yes! I was the one who created the Instagram and ocean inspired logo of iLuvCebuInstameet 4.0. I took around 1 month to finish the entire logo from sketch to rendition and from rendition to finalization. It was a privileged to contribute my skills to the event and I can’t imagine that everyone loves it. Yeah! Thank you, guys!
The great thing to participate Instameet is to meet some grammers and digital influencers and it involves to supporting each other by sharing thoughts and tips on how to make a better post on Instagram. It is a great avenue to share your stories to other grammers. Since it was my 2nd time to join the iLuvCebuInstameet, the first was very memorable and it changed me totally.
Here are the tips on how to help or contribute in preserving the marine environment.
1.) Refuse single use of plastic material such as plastic utensils, plastic bags, straw and much more.
2.) Buy secondhand materials such as clothing (ukay–ukay).
3.) Stop using products that contain microbeads such as facial cleanser and other beauty products.
4.) Try to buy sustainable products like organic products and recycled products.
5.) STOP SUCKING (Stop using straws)
6.) Upcycling those materials that can be reusable.
7.) Be mindful of your surroundings by simply doing the waste segregation and become a more responsible consumer.
8.) Join some activities like coastal cleaning, coral planting or some activities that can help preserve the environment.
9.) Spread the word of marine conservation by sharing it on social media. Instagram is the best platform to share some campaigns and stories, so it’s your time to spread your stories.
10.) Be consistent. 🙂
The tips that I mentioned above was based on the Marine Conservation Talk that I learned during the iLuvCebuInstameet. Many thanks to Ms. Christine Paula Love Bernasor for sharing her thoughts and stories during her Marine Conservation Talk.
